Arcade Project
This project was a collaboration with my Dad who is a programmer and video game designer. He had asked me to design and make 3 retro arcade machines, 2 too sell (smaller ones) and one to keep.
First step of construction was to cut all the pieces required using jigs and a router, more simple parts were cut with a circular saw. After was assembly and then painting with a spray gun. There where a lot of issues along the way; we had a normal monitor mounted in the machine and had to come up with a way of making it look finished, so we got Perspex and painted the backs leaving the exact size of the screen unpainted. we then realized we needed to be able to use a keyboard so made the control panel lifetable along with the screen that sits on the panel. After we had fully assembled the cabinets, we thought it would be nice to have a rubber strip to make it look more finished around the edges, so we took it all apart again and routed a grove for the t shaped rubber to go in to. the final piece was putting on the LED signs on the top that routed down to the computer.
After my part of the project was done, my Dad then designed his own software to run emulator games off and then we sold the two smaller ones. This was one of my most favorite and rewarding projects to do.
